Here is what was on the rooftop of the Pavilion of France at Expo 67:

"Mlle. Niki Sant Phalle's papier-mache figures were impaled atop "art machines" by M. Jean Tinguely. Displayed on the roof of the French Pavilion, the figures symbolized passive female; the motor-driven clanking machines represented the active male".
