"According to the Czechs, the 14th century writings that describe this carved version of The Last Supper identify the disciples with such titles as "the drunkard" and "the glutton;" not with their more reverent biblical names. Thus no one knows which apostle is sleeping on the table. The carving was once part of a church altar." -- Robert Fulford. |
