During Expo 67, the Republic of China Pavilion caught on fire. The result, according to Yves Jasmin, Director of Information, Publicity and Public Relations for Expo 67 is that the pavilion with its artefacts were closed for about 4 weeks until restoration was completed. However, information on the signs in front of the building indicate that the restaurant behind the main building remained opened serving up authentic Chinese cuisine. This photograph taken in 1967 confirms that restoration procedures were already underway.
