The highlight of Scout participation in
Expo 67 is the International Scout Center on Île Sainte-Hélène which is
sponsored by the H.J. Heinz Co. of Canada Ltd.
It is within easy distance of Expo-Express and Métro
stations, and features demonstrations of Scouting activities and a
Scouting information bureau.
The Scouting story is brought to life with displays of
skills in water safety, canoe handling, Scuba diving, camp cooking,
handicrafts and public service.
In the evenings, singing and fun around the campfire
in the Scout Theatre wind up the colorful programs.
Operating out of the center is a 100-member Scout
Service Corps, which is sponsored by the Rubber Association of
Canada.
It comprises Scouts, Venturers and Rovers from all
parts of Canada as well as representatives of the Boy Scouts of America
(brought to Expo 67 for one week tours of duty). The services undertaken
include participation in flag ceremonies and in observation of National
Days, assisting youth groups and the handicapped, and helping to greet
Expo's millions of visitors.
